African Scam is the title of a criminal activity growing all around the world. Criminals are mainly located in Africa and have been acting for over 20 years. With the advent of Internet, their activities expanded fast. They have been systematically deceiving car dealers, Internet dealers, bank managers, accounting offices and many other groups: religious groups are one of their targets.
According to CIA information, only in the U.S.A. these criminal activities have caused losses of more than US$100 million. If you work for the Church and Catholic Organizations and receive e-mails telling you a sad story about someone who died and millions of dollars awaiting for you somewhere, or if you receive e-mails from “African laity or missionaires” asking for monetary help or friendship and asking your bank account number, address and telephone, BLOCK AND BOUNCE IT IMMEDIATELY.
Notify your superiors and PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO ALL RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS AND PEOPLE YOU KNOW. This criminal activity can be easily avoided by simple awareness. Also, if you are in CANADA, forward it to wafl@phonebusters.com, an organ of the Canadian Anti-fraud call center that gathers data about African Scam to Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
In other countries, go to any search engine and type “african scam” followed by the name of your country for further information.
